![Philippe Petit is one of the most inspiring people to ever walk the earth and the skies. I was completely entranced throughout Man On Wire (a must see documentary). He had a beautiful dream and sleuthed, mathamatised, charmed and simply believed it into existence. In doing so he created a magical moment in time that means so much more than the stunning act itself. Watching him step out on the wire and dance between the two towers was heart stoppingly phenomenal. The wonder of the human bent to be drawn to their desires and the grace and awe when others are blessed to bare witness to something like this is a golden symbiosis that reminds us that there are no fucking rules and we need to peel our habituated brains back.
Philippe was asked by a reporter whilst being hauled off by police why he did it and his answer: “There is no ‘why’”. A mantra we’d all be prudent to follow.
